Vintage Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour raised $1000 at charity auction San Francisco Bay Area
The Wine
Beaulieu Vineyard is no strange name to many wine drinkers, beginners or experienced alike. First founded in Napa Valley, almost a century later, BV offer a wide range of wines for pocket sizes.
Beaulieu Vineyard – Georges De Latour Private Reserve
Beaulieu Vineyard needs no introduction. It is famous for having the first cult-wine of Napa Valley and with enough characters to be compared to Bordeaux First Growth, the Georges De Latour. Named after its founder and owner, BV-Latour for short has been adored by wine-lovers world wide. BV Latour quickly grabbed everyone’s attention and never looked back when it was first introduced in the late 1930s. More than 70 years later, little has changed about BV Latour, its legacy lives on securing its place among the top Bordeaux blend of Napa Valley.
Vintage 1984
BV Georges de Latour wines are made to enjoy and even cellar for decades. Some even consider them as collectors’ wines and we agree! The 1984 BV Georges de Latour still holds up after exactly three decades after. Beautifully aged, it poured a brown rich brick color with notes of dried pedals, currants and cedar. The flavors became more complex as the fruit profile darkened and released a lingering bouquet of cherry, earthy wood and profound acidity. Tannins were very much refined accompanied with a nice smooth finish. It is not a big wine like most Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon nowadays but it is very juice and delicious.
The Auction
A non-profit organization based in the San Jose-San Francisco Bay area reached out to us for their 2014 annual fundraising gala. Hidden in our cellar for a long time, we couldn’t think of a better occasion to celebrate such a beautiful wine. We donated it for the event auction. Were so ecstatic after a generous wine-lover bid $1000 for it. Winning a collectible wine while blessing a noble cause, we can’t ask for more.
