Pine Ridge Vineyards, Silverado Trail Napa Valley
Tucked into the legendary Stags Leap District beneath a ridge of pines and the region’s rugged palisades, Pine Ridge Vineyards was founded in 1978 by Gary Andrus. More than four decades later, it remains one of Napa Valley’s quieter treasures, known above all for Cabernet Sauvignon built to last.
Structured, age-worthy Cabernet. The winery makes Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties from 160 estate acres spread across five Napa sub-appellations: Stags Leap District, Howell Mountain, Oakville, Rutherford, and Carneros. That range of terroir gives the wines layered complexity — the polished tannins and dark fruit of Stags Leap, the firm mountain grip of Howell Mountain, the dusty depth of Rutherford. These are Cabernets with real architecture: firm structure and balanced acidity that reward patience in the cellar, evolving over a decade or more into wines of finesse and nuance. Winemaker Josh Widaman crafts each bottling to express its origins, and the estate is certified Napa Green for both land and winery.
A gorgeous vineyard garden. Above ground, visitors can relax in a tree-shaded outdoor garden that looks out over terraced vineyards and the estate’s signature ridgeline — an idyllic spot to linger over a bottle as the light shifts across the hillside vines.
The cave cellar. Below ground lies the estate’s soul. In the European-inspired caves, guests sit for tastings surrounded by barrels 130 feet underground, where the cool, constant air shapes the slow maturation of each vintage. The most immersive experience, the Cellar 47 tour, runs 90 minutes and costs $125 per person, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into winemaking before a seated tasting of the estate’s most exclusive wines.
