beringer private reserve 2006

Tasted March 2016

A dominant figure in Napa Valley, Beringer needs little introduction when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon.  This was one of those bottle that heightened your anticipation as you reached for the cork-screw.   Lovely nose of lush ripe dark fruit with traces of blackberry, dark cherry cassis and stewed plum -classic California Cabernet Sauvignon.  Exactly 10 years of age enhanced its complexity rich fruit laced with Asian root herbal, spice and incense.   With velvety tannin, flavors one after another echoed into an captivating and smooth finish.  Don’t wait to enjoy this wine, it is at its peak and will be so for the next 3-4 years.  Sip away by itself or pair with Prime Rib roast or lamb chops.  (18.5/20)
